Donations Update

February 3, 2008

Thanks to the generous donations of Summit7 supporters, Evan presented a check in the amount of $11,370 to Habitat for Humanity (HFH) Argentina. The money represents funds raised in conjunction with Evan’s Mt. Aconcagua climb.

After arriving in Argentina on Friday, February 1, Evan and Don met with Constanza Ledesma, National Resource Development Coordinator of HFH Argentina on Sunday, February 3.

“Meeting with local Habitat representatives is always a highlight of my trip,” stated Evan. “I gain significant insight into the local housing situation and get the chance to learn firsthand how our Summit7 donation will help local families in need. I’m glad I’m able to do something to help the people in the countries where I climb.”

Constanza “Connie” Ledesma sent the following note of thanks to Summit7 and their supporters. “Thank you for meeting us. It was my pleasure. GRACIAS/THANK YOU for the great job you are doing with Summit7, helping people in dire need of adequate housing. May God bless you and Evan and your supporters.”

In the meeting, Connie advised Evan and Don that the money was earmarked to be used to build a new home, and add on several rooms to an existing one-bedroom home that houses a large family.

Evan and Don began their ascent of Mt. Aconcagua with Alpine Ascents guide Jason Thomas and 10 other members of team “Aconcagua 6” on Tuesday, February 5. The climb was Evan’s first attempt. Don successfully summitted Mt. Aconcagua in 2004.

With perfect weather for the duration of the climb, the entire team summitted on Tuesday, February 19.

With the high likelihood of Evan receiving a college scholarship for football, he plans to postpone his remaining 3 climbs until college graduation (estimated 2013-14.)
